COLLINGDALE — A borough man wanted on charges involving a pedestrian robbery outside a Wawa has managed to elude apprehension several times, most recently on Thursday, according to authorities.

Chris Hipple, 20, was seen Thursday in the area of Springfield Road, off MacDade Boulevard, police Chief Robert Adams said. As officers closed in on the fugitive, he fled on Florence Avenue toward an industrial center that dead-ends into a wooded area.

“He knows he’s wanted,” Adams said Thursday night, adding that officers kept up a foot chase for at least 30 minutes.

According to Adams and online court records, Hipple is wanted on robbery, simple assault, reckless endangerment and related offenses stemming from an incident outside Wawa in the 900 block of MacDade Boulevard on May 18.

Hipple allegedly knocked a male to the ground and then took off with the victim’s cell phone — images that were caught on surveillance, Adams said.
